Kim Plumridge Acting Lessons Westchester Acting Lessons

Acting is about communication.

It involves being true to yourself and sensitive to the feelings and needs of others.

It requires the use of your head and your heart.

Using the tenets of legendary acting teachers Stanislavski, Hagen, Strasberg and Meisner, as well as a number of tools I have learned in over 30 years as a professional actor, I have helped actors and non-actors find a way to express themselves more freely and feel more comfortable in their own skin.

In both my group and private classes, I provide a warm and supportive environment for actors of all skill levels and ages as well as a solid foundation in the essential tools of Acting Technique.  Careful attention is paid to script analysis, character development and the integration of the Actor’s Instrument using vocal and physical warm-ups as well as breath work based in the Feldenkrais Method®.  I believe that an integrated, grounded and focused instrument is essential for all performing artists and the key to working in any medium.

My classes are also open to non-actors who wish to use the tools of acting to relax, improve concentration and better express themselves. The tools of Acting Technique can help just about anyone to be more present and to “stay in the moment,” no matter what life throws at them. Valuable relaxation and concentration exercises as well as improvisation exercises taught in these classes can expand the imagination and sharpen problem-solving skills.  My ultimate goal is to help you to find more creativity and joy in your work and in your life.
